Two choices, one spirit

Driving your Mazda RX-8 will inspire you with complete confidence. At the heart of the Mazda RX-8 lies the unique RENESIS rotary engine.

When you buy the new Mazda RX-8, you'll be able to choose from two variations of the RENESIS powertrain: The high power specification, producing 231ps and the standard power unit producing 192ps. Both offer breathtaking performance with exceptional handling and road holding.

The RENESIS engine is uncommonly compact, which provides an ideal mounting position for the entire powertrain - low and behind the front axle. This low centre of gravity and unique powertrain location means that the Mazda RX-8 has near perfect 50/50 weight distribution - giving it exceptional agility and responsiveness.

As well as the entire powertrain being mounted behind the front axle, the fuel tank is mounted in front of the rear axle. This concentrates the weight mass near the theoretical yaw axis and greatly contributes to the feeling of oneness between the Mazda RX-8 and the driver. The result is the thrilling drive of a classic sports car.

Precision control handling is provided by the newly developed double wishbone front suspension. A new multi-link rear suspension provides lateral stiffness for excellent handling and response while providing longitudinal compliance for outstanding stability, ride comfort and low road noise.

Finally the Dynamic Stability Control will both enhance your driving and act as an active safety feature. It monitors your wheel speeds, steering angles, braking function and yaw rate and applies brake force accordingly to one or more wheels, helping to reduce engine output and prevent skids.
